Use PDF Xpress as an ActiveX Control

PDF Xpress can be used as an ATL COM ActiveX control in development environments that accept ActiveX controls, like Visual Basic. The following processes assume that your development environment is Visual Basic.

Creating an application with Visual Basic and PDF Xpress

  1. Add the PDF Xpress control to a project.
  2. Use the PDF Xpress control on a form.
  3. Write code that controls the PDF Xpress properties and methods.

Loading the PDF Xpress Control Involves Adding it to a Project

  1. Open the project that will use the PDF Xpress control. This can be a new or existing project.
  2. From the Project menu, choose Components. The Control window appears with a list of available controls.
  3. Select the Accusoft control (i.e., PDF Xpress). Click OK.

Other Environments

The PDF Xpress control is supported by a variety of host environments. To use PDF Xpress in other environments, consult the development tool's documentation for information on how to use ActiveX controls. As soon as the control is loaded, the following things happen:

  1. The control becomes part of the current project.
  2. A new tool is added to the Toolbox. This tool is used to draw the PDF Xpress control on the form.

The new control can now be used as if it were a standard control. The PDF Xpress control has its own set of properties and methods, which can be seen by using the Properties and Code windows.
